Work

Projects

Aerospace design and CAD alongside production hardware, automation, and machining. The common thread is carrying engineering past the model — building it, testing it, and finding out what actually happens.

FANUC Robot & VMC Automated Manufacturing Cell

Programmed and helped set up an automated cell in which a FANUC R-1000iA/100F six-axis robot moves track shoes between material racks and a Yama Seiki BM-1600MAX machining center. Included TP programming and RoboGuide simulation across four part sizes, PLC ladder logic and safety interlocks, custom end-of-arm tooling, and a 3D-printed mount for a vision-based clamping check.

Hand-Launched Glider — Design, Fabrication & Flight Testing

Led a team through designing a glider from scratch, fabricating the prototype, and refining its stability through iterative testing — reaching a measured 179 ft flight over 6.35 seconds from a ground-level launch.

Pipe-Cleaning Agitation Machine

Built a full-scale CAD model of a large industrial cleaning machine entirely from hand measurements taken off the equipment, with no drawings to work from.

Furnace Conveyor Belt System

Modeled a furnace conveyor and its components from existing hardware, produced the CAM to machine them, built custom vise jaws to hold awkward parts, and assembled physical conveyor segments.

Furnace Replacement Component

A heat-treatment furnace component broke with no drawings available. I measured the damaged part, rebuilt its geometry in CAD, and supported manufacture of a machined replacement.

Paint Robot Nozzle Holder

A robotic paint gun used on track idlers drifted off its intended position over time. I designed a rigid holder to keep the nozzle steady and holding its aim.

Other projects

Work without a full write-up yet. Media and detail to follow.

Model rocket
Designed and iterated a model rocket in OpenRocket, simulating flight performance against a 325 ft target altitude and validating the design with a live flight test that reached approximately 360 ft.
Liquid Rocketry at Illinois
Engine subgroup — engine design discussions and propulsion subsystem analysis.

Additional hands-on experience

Smaller work from the Metamora Industries internship. Not headline engineering, but it is where a lot of the practical knowledge came from.

Vehicle maintenance
Replaced and troubleshot backup cameras, replaced speakers, repaired windshield washer fluid systems, replaced batteries
Plant infrastructure
Ran Ethernet cabling through assembly-line areas and connected production-monitoring cameras
Facility support
Scrapped and recycled barrels from blast-machine operations; cleaned and organized steel yards and material storage; general shop support
Office work
Data entry, file organization, and maintaining company records and documents
